Sometime in the fall of 1943, between September and October, there was an alleged US Navy experiment called Project Rainbow done on the destroyer USS Eldridge with the objective of making the ship invisible to enemy radar by altering its magnetic and visual presence. The story is a mix of fact and myth and has become the subject of legends that did not end with movie of the same name.
The Allegation:
The SS Eldridge carried huge Tesla coils that generated enormous oscillated electromagnetic force so powerful as to warp the space and gravity around it, rendering it invisible and transporting it forward in time and back.
Claims had been made that the ship had indeed become invisible for a few minutes with horrific effects on its crew like some disappearing, getting embedded within the ship’s bulkheads, floors and railings, and suffering madness and mental instability thereafter.
The Facts:
The 1930s saw noted men like Nikola Tesla experimenting on the time-space continuum hypothesized in Einstein’s theories. Tesla came to the conclusion as did Einstein that the Unified Field Theory linking gravity with electromagnetism had been solved and that small objects had been rendered invisible in lab experiments.
The US Navy carried out all sorts of experiments that it considered at the time to have promising military application and benefits to its wartime efforts. It could have been experimenting on radar invisibility but not on ships.
A certain Carl Allen (aka Carlos Miguel Allende) intimated to an auto parts salesman and amateur astronomer Dr. Morris K. Jessup who authored the 1955 book, The Case for the UFO, a detailed description of the alleged experiment and its effects on the crew as an eyewitness on board a merchant ship SS Andrew Furuseth. He spent the rest of his life looking for leads to prove the claims and after intense pressure, committed suicide in April 20. 1959.
Carl Allen’s story had been corroborated by Alfred Bieleck (aka Edward Cameron) who claims that Einstein, Tesla and von Neumann were involved in the experiment.
The SS Eldridge’s log or war diary details its places of anchor from September to November and revealed nothing about the alleged experiments (but the government has been known to cover up these things in the interest of national security).
After the alleged experiments, the SS Eldridge suffered functional problems and was never seen again. The SS Eldridge whereabouts is in question. Some say it was dismantled while others claim it has been renamed Leon and is now part of the Greek navy. Witnesses on board this ship have observed strange wirings that led nowhere and experienced strange energies and illusions when on board.
