Network News & Europe

Every morning I make it a point to watch the news while I eat my breakfast. I admit that I seldom hear any news that provides me with detailed information about world economics, geopolitical activity or social movements, which have the potential for impacting our way of life. But then, I have a habit of listening to or watching morning news, even very shallow news. To get important news I have to dig for it on the Internet and then verify that it is correct, a lot of work to get to the truth.

Our paranoid puppies (conspiracy theorist) are convinced that the reason for "shallow" news is because the Bilderbergs or some other elitist group controls the news. I cannot say that our puppies are wrong; however, the only real network conspiracy I see is their unending quest for reporters and news anchors with sex appeal, the capability for manipulating emotions and who are shallow enough to take the information they are given at face value. Our paranoid puppies don't seem to realize that Americans want a sexy news anchor to emotionally inform them that some celebrity slipped on a banana peal and busted their butt. Americans are more interested in emotional hype, drama, tragedy, violence and sex than they are in world changing events. That is why most Americans know almost nothing about what is really happening in Europe, let alone how this is going to change the future for Americans, and the world.

For those of you still reading this article, lets see what is happening since the European Union got itself a real constitution in December. To begin with, national sovereignty is all but dead in Europe. It is kind of like when our thirteen colonies decided to sell their soul to the devil and become a single nation. Of course, it took the failure of Picket's charge for the final nail to be driven into the coffin of States Rights: now we are a raging federation that is rushing into socialism. The only difference between Europe and America is that Europe is already a collection of socialist and semi-socialist nations who are rushing headlong into Elitist Fascism[i].

Why do I make such a proclamation? And, it is a proclamation: not a supposition. Because, on December 1, 2009, the Treaty of Lisbon went into force and the European Union assumed a level of power and authority that only Napoleon or Hitler could have dreamed of. The poor dumb European socialists were so busy making one another feel good that they allowed a few elitist to sell their national souls to Satan; most never even understood what was really happening. But it did happen, and each one of the 27 independent nations relinquished enormous parts of their sovereignty to a new governing body of elitists.

You did not see an in-depth news report of this world-shaping event; but an event, with as much impact as a major war, has just taken place. Europe, a continent of independent nations, no longer exists. Lets take a quick look at what has happened. The Lisbon treaty brings all 27 nations under a pseudo federation, which will dictate and control:

* immigration and asylum
* national military actions
* overall European security and defense
* voting rights
* a legislative system
* a judicial system
* law enforcement (European Arrest Warrant (EAW)
* a supreme court (European Court of Justice)

The European Union also has the right to put limitations on individual liberties if these limitations are necessary and genuinely meet objectives of general interest, as recognized by the union's governing body. In the United States, we might liken this to "Marshal Law," if applied nationwide. Now, I ask you: "how in four hubs of heck did all network news miss the importance of this event?"

The truth is they did not miss it. They reviewed it and determined that Americans would not understand what this treaty means: so, devote little to no time covering it. Lets be honest, the networks did not have time to spend explaining politics to a nation of people they consider to be politically illiterate. Put another way: there is no money in telling apathetic Americans about the monumental happenings in Europe. Network News is an industry driven by money and not a crusade to inform people about the truth: that form of reporting died in the 20th century.

For my paranoid puppy friends: "stay paranoid, it is justified!" But, there is little need for a conspiracy to hide serious news events when people do not want to listen to them in the first place.

[i] Elitist Fascism, is a political system that seeks to combine an elected elitist-controlled governing body with a corporatist economic system, where the welfare of the elite takes precedence over the welfare of the individual. (Definition by Robert A. Sickler)
